D Jaw
With an artist, a talented pianist and vocalists in his family it was always likely that Dan would make a career for himself doing something creative. He showed an interest in art from a young age but it wasn’t until his early teens that he found his real passion.
"You could always hear bass coming from certain houses down my street. House, Garage, Jungle, Drum and Bass, it caught my attention"
Building a collection of records and CD's became a natural thing even though he didn’t have the money to buy a set of decks, when he first worked abroad at the age of eighteen his drive to become a DJ really started to take hold. After completing a season on the Greek Island of Falaraki as a PR for Twice as Nice and Zante as a Barman he decided it was time to put his CD's and records to good use. Rumours of a Club in Zante needing a resident DJ brought him back to the island once more and claiming he was a experienced House DJ he blagged a trial set without even knowing how to beat match.
“I really didn’t know I was going to do, I thought if I mixed the tunes together during the breakdowns then I might be in with a chance”
In the months that followed Dan found he was the only resident at the club and often played for 6 hours straight 6 nights a week. Different nights meant different genres and this helped him become a versatile DJ comfortable playing House, Techno, Hip Hop, Oldskool and more.
Since returning to London he has played for promotions in London and Manchester such as Two AM (Mixmag), Spin Out Records, Sick! On The Dancefloor, Perverted Audio, Geek! and held a residency with Hoi Polloi. Last year he and two other DJ’s (Billy The Kid and Terry Richards) formed The Ketrano DJ’s who had a long running weekly slot on Phatbeats radio and have since headlined the second room at Matter and the main room at Herbal among others. During his career he has played alongside and on the same bill as X-Press 2, Micky Slim, Stupid Fresh, Leeroy Thornhill formally of The Prodigy, Bigger Than Jesus and Alex Gaudino to name a few and has thrown himself into the world of Producing with tracks signed to Paria Records and collaborations with Citizen 42 (AKA Andy Tau of Infrosonic Records)
